Getting a good start is half the battle! Before you begin with the (intense) poses, concentration and inner peace are essential. How do you make sure you’re relaxed? Lie on your back in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Avoid distracting thoughts and focus on the here and now. Distracting thoughts are not good for sexual pleasure either! Try to lie quietly for at least 5 minutes before getting into the following positions.

1. The downward dog

One of the best-known yoga poses is the downward dog. This pose might prove challenging for you initially, but honestly, it can be an excellent resting position. The pose mainly focuses on finding the right balance, all while your body is slowly warming up. It’s also a great warm-up before sex!

2. The cobra

From ‘the downward dog’, you can switch to ‘the cobra’. This pose is a true heart opener. And it’s not just your heart this pose focuses on. Your pubic bone will be resting on the mat, which will allow intimacy to take centre stage. An additional benefit to the cobra is that it gives you energy. Are you feeling too tired to have sex? Then try the cobra!

3. The tree

The perfect pose to find balance. The ‘tree pose’ challenges you to remain standing in both a flexible and stable position. And don’t we all secretly think flexibility is a major plus in the bedroom ;)? Want to take this pose one step further? Try closing your eyes while in this position.

4. Bound angle

With the ‘bound angle’ you open your hips. And flexible hips will definitely come in handy in bed! An additional advantage is that this pose will also warm your pubic and groin regions.

5. The (side) plank
