What is a tampon?
A tampon is a stick or sponge that can be inserted into the vagina . It is intended to stop and suck up the blood of menstruation. As a result, a woman has little or no problems with leaking menstrual blood during her period of menstruation. An original tampon looks like an elongated, spherical cotton rod with a string attached. However, you will not find this tampon version at EasyToys. That is why this text goes into more detail about the soft tampons . These modern and relatively popular tampons have no string. They look like a small sponge that easily adapts to the inside of your vagina. Just like the original tampon, the soft tampon is also inserted by hand. The female vagina is on average 12 inches deep. That means that you should basically get the tampon out without a string with your fingers. In principle you can keep a soft tampon longer than a normal tampon. Where you can wear the normal for about 4 hours, the soft version lasts for 8 hours.
The development of the soft tampon
In the past, people already used a kind of soft tampons. Women made them from natural sponges, but these often resulted in infections. The materials used in modern soft tampons only contain substances that are harmless to the vagina . The best known and first soft tampon is the Beppy tampon. It was developed by female gynecologists. They worked together with the Technical University in Delft and the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. The soft tampon was developed from the idea that it should be 'invisible' and comfortable.
What can you do with a tampon?
Besides the fact that the (soft) tampon has been developed to collect menstrual blood, it is also useful for other things.
Activities with a tampon
The well-known tampon with the string can sometimes cause discomfort during activities such as sports, swimming and going to the sauna. For example, when exercising, a woman feels her tampon sitting or it shifts due to the movements that are made during exercise. When swimming or sitting in the sauna, many women are ashamed of the visible string. With a soft tampon you can do all those things without being bothered by your tampon. Because there is no string and the soft tampon adapts to the female body , this model can be experienced as very pleasant during activities.
Sex is possible with a tampon
Making love with an original tampon is difficult and can feel very unpleasant for both men and women. This is because the tampon has a solid and, when just inserted, hard structure. The soft structure of the soft tampon makes intercourse possible and comfortable for many . The tampon should be inserted as far into the vagina as possible to facilitate penetration. For the man, it may feel as if his penis is touching the cervix when in reality he is feeling the tampon. Touching the cervix sometimes happens in certain positions.
The pros and cons of tampons
The advantage is that soft tampons feel comfortable and always fit well. The material is flexible and therefore fits every vagina . Moreover, you can do many activities without others or yourself noticing that you are wearing a tampon. The disadvantage of this soft tampon is that, unlike a normal tampon, it is sometimes difficult to put in and take off. When there is a dry vagina, you may feel some resistance when putting it in, which some women find uncomfortable. Also, taking off the tampon is not easy for everyone. The tampon can sit quite deep and end up next to the cervix. For example, through penetration during sex. The penis may then have pushed the tampon further away. That is why removingthe tamponsometimes takes some practice . After doing it in and out several times, you will see that it is easier.
A tampon is not a contraceptive
Some women would like to believe that the soft tampon also works as a contraceptive. However, this is not the case. Although it stops menstrual blood, it does not prevent pregnancies and STDs. When you have sex with a tampon in, always make sure your partner wears one condom.
What different models are there?
There are a number of different brands of soft tampons. Beppy tampons from the Asha International brand were the first. After that, other brands with other shapes also followed.
Beppy Wet tampons
The Beppy tampons are available in two different types. The first of these is the Beppy Wet tampon. This version has a convex top and a hole at the bottom. That makes it easy to use and excellent for women who are not quite familiar with soft tampons yet. This version contains a bit of lubricant that maintains the PH value of the vagina. It makes the Wet tampon pleasant and easy to insert. With the hole at the bottom, the tampon can easily be pulled out with a finger. The disadvantage of this tampon is that it is quite expensive compared to other soft tampons. But anyone who uses soft tampons for the first time would do well to start with this. However, they become cheaper when you buy more in one package, so an advantage package. The higher the numbers, the lower the price.
Beppy Dry Tampons
Beppy Dry tampons are slightly different in shape and have no lubricant or hole. That makes them cheaper than the Wet tampons . The Dry version, on the other hand, is only suitable for the advanced user. They can be more difficult to remove than the Wet variants and are therefore not recommended for beginners. These Beppy Dry tampons are also cheaper. For those who use soft tampons a lot, Dry models can be better for the wallet. If you find it uncomfortable to insert these tampons, you can choose to add a little water-based lubricant to make insertion easier. You have to order these separately. The Dry tampons are the cheapest of all types.
What should you pay attention to and which tampons are best?
For every woman there is the soft tampon that suits her. For advanced users, different models are suitable than for the women who use a tampon for the first time. Your budget may also play a role when you buy tampons. You can read more about the right choice for you below.
Tampons for the beginner
If you have not tried a soft tampon without a string that often or not at all, it is wise to go for something smaller package with fewer tampons. If you don't like it, you don't immediately have a lot of tampons that you don't want to wear anymore. The most famous tampon among beginners is the Beppy Wet tampon. The lubricant on the menstrual sponge provides ease of use and comfort. It is also easier to remove due to the hole at the bottom of the design. These sponges are slightly more expensive, but are absolutely recommended when you use soft sponges for the first time. The arrow-shaped Joydivision tampons are also suitable. Make sure to add some lubricant to these tampons. Also, make sure you do n't put it in too far the first time to make taking it out easier for yourself
Tampons for the advanced
If you are experienced in putting in and taking out soft tampons, all types of tampons are suitable for you. However, you may want to take your budget into account . Especially when your period is heavy or lasts long, the HOT and Beppy Wet versions can be expensive. That is why the Beppy Dry tampons and the Joydivision models are recommended. Incidentally, the Beppy Wet tampons become cheaper the more you order in one package.
How do you use tampons?
If you have never used a soft tampon or you want to make sure that you are doing it correctly, read the instructions for use below.
Always wash your hands before putting in or taking out a tampon. This prevents bacteria from entering your vagina and urethra.
Take the tampon out of the package and squat . You can also choose to put one leg on the toilet seat or a chair so that the opening of your vagina is also exposed. Put a little water-based lubricant on the tampon to make it easier to insert. Of course this is not necessary.
Spread your labia with one hand and press the tampon inward with your other hand. With the Beppy Wet tampons it is important that you squeeze the convex top together and then insert it into your vagina. Use your index or middle finger to push the tampon further in. When you simply wear it for ease of use, there is no need to push the sponge all the way back. Push it past your pelvic floor muscles and it sits well. If you plan on going for a swim or having sex, push it further back until it rests against your cervix.
Do not keep the tampon in for more than 8 hours and take it out earlier if you have heavy periods. Make sure you don't forget it to avoid conditions like tampon disease. The tampon disease is a disease in which holding in a tampon for too long causes toxic substances to form, resulting in blood poisoning.
When you take the tampon out, you can sit in the same squatting position to get the tampon out easily. Make sure you are relaxed , then removing the tampon is the easiest.
With the Beppy Wet and Joydivision tampons you can hook through the hole of the tampon with your index or middle finger to pull it out. With the other tampons, it is best to squeeze and pull the sponge with your thumb and index finger or with index and middle fingers. Just like tweezers.
When you get it, wrap it in toilet paper and throw it away. Never use a tampon more often to avoid infections. Finally, wash your hands.
When you can't get your tampon out
You may not get a hold of the tampon. Don't panic . There are a number of things you can do. Squat and squeeze a bit as you form tweezers with your fingers. If this doesn't work, you can opt for an intimate shower . This means that you let water run into your vagina, making the tampon heavier. You can try this with a shower head, but what works even better is a vaginal douche. This is a kind of balloon with a nozzle on it. Fill the balloon with water and insert the nozzle. By squeezing the balloon, water flows into your vagina. This way you can also weigh the tampon down. Still not working? Then consult a doctor or gynecologist who will remove it.
